How the Toilet Can Be an Icon of Social Justice, Sustainability, and Wellness
- Shared screen with speaker view

Why was the urinal included as part of the XY design?

01:22:49
It does not appear that the one urinal has any type of privacy screen.

01:24:26
Great question/comment, we’ll address this after the project is presented

01:26:31
Are condom dispensers really still a "thing"? I haven't seen one in years!

01:27:41
As a male, the convenience of using a urinal in a conventional Men's Rm without a partition makes sense! In this "prototype" I can see any number of the occupants, including the user of the urinal, being uncomfortable with the urinal being unpartitioned.

01:27:44
what about the needs of parents using toilets? space for young children space for diaper changing

01:34:51
It's a really gorgeous design. :-)

01:36:15
I don't know what to make of that ending paragraph! There's certainly a segment of the public--perhaps the vast majority, who just have a physiological need to take care of! This statement seems to veer in a direction of forcing a change in social mores that goes beyond the issue of gender identity,

01:38:16
Does the Scandinavian custom (as I understand it) of a comfort level of co-ed spa, saunas, etc. inform any of this issue of joint rest room use?

01:44:40
Early in the presentation you used the term transgender-ed people. I would suggest removing the -ed.

01:47:43
Clustered unisex single user toilet and bathing rooms solve these unisex issues, save space and provide needed privacy.

when my gym partially opened after the pandemic, they closed the gender separated locker rooms and the only option was the family locker room. It has been and interesting to see how behavior has changed with the shared spaces. Good example that there is not need for the separation.

01:53:06
@amme - absolutely, great point. Wording is always important, we’re learning this every day

01:53:16
another example of shared restroom. https://www.dezeen.com/2018/06/22/stalled-initiative-provides-open-source-prototypes-for-inclusive-public-restrooms/

Excellent discussion. Thanks.
